Ut Tyler 2023 Calendar – The Tyler ISD Board of Trustees voted Monday to approve the district’s calendar for the 2022-23 school year.

The first day of school for students will be Monday, August 15, and the last day of school will be Friday, May 26, 2023, fulfilling a prominent request among families and district staff to end the 179-year school year before Memorial Day.

Also, the first day of school for students at the Buchers Center for Exceptional Programs will be Monday, August 15, and their last day will be Friday, July 14, 2023.

The newly adopted calendar continues to include nine-week assessment periods and includes at least one day off for students and staff each month. Early release days for students will also be used for staff professional development in the afternoon. Each year, the calendar committee solicits input and feedback from administrators, teachers, parents, business representatives and community members. The draft calendar is created in accordance with the interests of students, staff and parents.

“As always, we put together the calendar to meet annual learning goals for our students while building in what makes sense for traditional breaks for faculty, staff and parents,” said Tyler ISD Superintendent Dr. Marty Crawford.

The first reading of the draft calendar took place at the regular board meeting in January. The community is invited to provide feedback on the calendar by completing an online survey by February 9.
