Disd 2021 To 2023 Calendar – Depending on the school a student attends, there will be three different types of calendars for Dallas ISD next year: a plain calendar, a recess calendar, and a “School Day Redesign” calendar.
The latter two were conceived after a meeting with teachers, staff and parents as the district tried to manage the learning disabilities that emerged following the pandemic’s complete shutdown of schools last spring.

The district said Stephen C. Foster Elementary in Midway Hollow, Medrano Middle School are among the schools opting for the intersession calendar (where many students who died before the 2019 tornado that now destroyed the building attended from Cary Middle School), and KB Polk Center for Academically Talented and Gifted (located between Lemmon Avenue and the Bluffview and Greenway Parks neighborhoods).

In all, 41 schools will have an intersessional calendar, with their school year starting on August 9th and ending on June 23rd.
A calendar between sessions would add 21 classroom days with five week-long sessions to the school year. Students in need of assistance would be invited to attend these weeks, which would be offered in August, September, November, February and June. Both students and teachers could register or deregister.
The recess calendar, assistant academic principal Derek Little said at a February school board meeting, is exciting because it allows the district to intervene throughout the school year, look for learning gaps, and address them early — compared to summer school. , when a student does not have a chance to catch up or improve by the end of the school year.

Five Schools – Maple Lawn Elementary, H.I. Holland Elementary School in Lisbon, Edna Rowe Elementary School, Thomas J. Rusk Middle School and Boude Storey Middle School have confirmed a “School Day Redesign” calendar, with school starting August 2 for all students and ends on June 23rd.
Using the base calendar used by all other schools, the school year begins on August 16th and ends on May 27th.
